What is Modulation Z?
Modulation Z is a winter drum line group consisting of students from Fort Zumwalt East, North, South and West high schools.  It is the first and only combined competitive performance group in the district.  Started in 2013, Modulation Z was created for those students who did not have a winter program at their "home" schools as a means for them to participate in this fun and exciting experience. It was originally conceived to be a one-time thing or something that would occur every so often. But, due to the overwhelming positive results and feedback from both students and parents, it was apparent that "Mod Z" should take place every year.

In 5 short years of competing in the activity, Mod Z has won the Gold Medal for the PIA Class at the MCGGA Circuit Championships in 2014, 2016,  and 2017. In that time, they were finalists at the WGI World Championships in the PIA Class placing 9th in 2015, 4th in 2016 and winning the Gold medal in 2017. In March of 2018 Mod Z was promoted to the Percussion Independent Open Class (PIO) and received the Silver medal at the MCCGA Circuit Championships. Once again, they were a finalist at the WGI World Championships placing 5th (PIA) in 2019. They also have proudly received endorsements from Sabian Cymbals, Remo Drumheads, Innovative Percussion and ON2 Percussion.
